With the technical assistance of the National Resilience Programme, the government of Bangladesh has revised the Standing Orders on Disaster (SOD) in 2019 (in Bengali and English) through rigorous consultations to adjust it to the changing risk contexts and to be consistent with national and global risk management drivers. The objective of the formulation of the SOD is to inform all concerned about their roles and responsibilities at every stage of disaster risk management. In the spirit of the ‘whole of society’ the SOD ensures the inclusion of all stakeholders and underscores the participation of women, children, elderly people, and persons with disabilities in all stages of disaster risk management.
