Programming Division of the Bangladesh Planning Commission has launched a web-based platform with the support of National Resilience Programme to integrate disaster risk information into development planning and budgeting, policies, and programs. Hon’ble Planning Minister Mr. M A Mannan inaugurated the Digital Risk Information Platform (DRIP) in a launching ceremony held on February 02 at the NEC conference room. Later the platform was renamed as Disaster and Climate Risk Information Platform (DRIP).
“Strengthening Risk Governance and Institutionalization of resilience is a global and as well as a national commitment of the Government of Bangladesh,” the minister said in his inaugural address. Apart from this, The launching ceremony was addressed by Mr. Dr. Shamsul Alam, State Minister for Ministry of Planning, Sudipto Mukerjee, Resident Representative of UNDP, Christine Johnsson, Deputy Head of Mission in the Embassy of Sweden, Nick Harvey, Senior Humanitarian Adviser, Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), Arif Abdullah Khan, Program Analyst of UNDP and Dr. Nurun Nahar, Project Director of NRP in Programming Division. Also, Mr. Pradip Ranjan Chakraborty, Secretary of, Planning Division presided over the session. He pointed out that the commission has introduced Disaster Impact Assessment (DIA) in the feasibility study format and the inclusion of DIA in development project formulation is under process which will be placed in the next meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC). More than a hundred representatives from Government agencies, diplomatic missions, and scientific organizations were present in the event and joined virtually.
