With 160 newly trained volunteers Rangpur, Tangail, Rangamati, and Sunamganj cities have a total of 1920 (over 40% female) volunteers as ‘friends of need.’ The volunteers have been trained on earthquake search & rescue, firefighting, and first aid to make people aware and come forward for help during disasters. In the reporting period, Urban Community Volunteers (UCVs) played a vital role in firefighting, waterlogging, clean city awareness, tree plantation, and COVID-19 vaccination in the said cities. Under NRP: DDM, the volunteers have been developed through Fire Service and as an extended force of Municipality.
