The National Resilience Programme (NRP): DDM part is progressing well toward developing capacities of MoDMR on SFDRR monitoring and reporting. On 21 July 2022, a capacity-building training was organized on “Sendai Framework Monitor and Data & Information Sharing”. The training focused on how to collect required data/information and process them into SFDRR monitor following prescribed guidelines of UNDRR. It provides an understanding of the role of their offices; the goad and targets of SFDRR as well as indicators-wise data needed to provide in the Sendai Monitor (SM). A total of 29 staff of MoDMR participated in the training.

Md Kamrul Hasan ndc, Secretary, Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief was the chief guest of the training session. In the inaugural speech, he said that our Standing Orders of Disaster (2019); National Plan for Disaster Management 2021-2025 and other sub-national level disaster management plans/strategies contribute in SFDRR implementation. He also appreciates NRP’s role for supporting MoDMR in conducting Midterm review of SFDRR implementation.

Abu Saleh Md Mohiuddin Khan, Project Director (Joint Secretary), NRP: DDM Part conducted session on NRP DDM and Sendai Framework for effective Disaster Risk Management. He discussed the structural arrangement and readiness for SFDRR implementation in Bangladesh.

K M Abdul Wadud, Additional Secretary (Law, Relief Admin) and NPC, NRP discussed on Regulatory Framework of Disaster Risk Management (DM Act, DM Policy). He said that DM Act 2012 directed us to adopt disaster management policy instruments on SOD 2019 & NPDM 2021-2025.

Rowsan Ara Begum, Additional Secretary (Admin, Budget, Service, ICT, DM-1 & APA) given emphasis on SOD and NPDM implementation while conducting a session on Institutional Framework for Disaster Risk Management.

Technical persons of NRP DDM part project delivered lecture on background, targets and indicators of SFDRR in detail. The project provided the said training for 54 staff from DDM and MoDMR. The project also provides technical support to MoDMR for conducting scheduled midterm review of SFDRR implementation.
