Sree Shayan Chandra Das (14) Son of Bandul Das, lives in plainland under Ramna Union, Chilmari, Kurigram. His father is a fisherman who fishes in the Brahmaputra River on a seasonal basis and rest of the time works as day labor. But his income is sufficient for maintaining his family. Shayan was born with disabilities, especially not moving without a wheelchair. In the rural setting, low-income family unable to construct accessible housing for such disabilities. During flood time he can’t move from his house because of the mud. With the help of The NRP DDM part, Shayan’s family constructed a flood resilient and disability-inclusive model house under the activities on Disability Inclusive DRR at Chilmari Upazila of Kurigram district.

His father emotionally quoted; “I can’t believe ever that I will get a flood resilient model house permanently where my elder son (Shayon Chandra Das-CP) could move around in the house by wheelchair”. 

Through this project, he is now able to move freely.
