Over the past few months, Institute of Asset Management (IAM) Certified LGED officials have been able to train 186 participants (9 batches) on Asset Management in collaboration with the Engineering Staff College of Bangladesh (ESCB). This collaboration between LGED and ESCB was done to ensure the continuity of capacity-building initiatives of NRP LGED’s part in asset management.
“I didn’t have a clear vision about asset management before the training. During the course, my knowledge on asset management strategy, and policy expanded. At BWDB, assets are created and maintained in several ways but not under any policy or in a systemic way. With the knowledge I/we gathered, we can make some tangible changes to the work that we are doing.” Farhana Kabir, Assistant Engineer (Civil), Central GIS Directorate, BWDB, and a trainee at ESCB.
“The Basic Course on Asset Management introduced me to a structured way of looking at Asset Lifecycle cost. Asset Management is also a great tool for top level decision makers to weigh in all the factors before an asset creation. I think more and more engineers should be introduced to the concepts of Asset Management which should be retained within the organization to realize its benefits.” Mohaiminul Islam Fahmi, Sub Divisional Engineer, Public Works Department (PWD) and a trainee at ESCB.
“My journey of becoming an Asset Management Professional began in 2019. Under the National Resilience Programme, in collaboration with UNOPS and LGED, we received various training, resources, and guidance. Today, I belong to the first cohort in the country to be Asset Management (IAM) Certified. I am also a trainer and I believe that this knowledge that I am able to disseminate will go a long way.” Farhana Lima, Senior Assistant Engineer, LGED, and a trainer on Asset Management.
