This sub-project was approved by the Ministry of Local Government Rural Development and Cooperatives (MoLGRD&C) on 01 January 2018 and will continue till December 2022.
Output of LGED Part:
- Improved capacity of selected public institutions to achieve resilience outcomes through designing and constructing risk-informed, disability inclusive and gender-responsive infrastructure
Result Areas
- Strengthen Local Government Engineering Department capacity to capture baseline information on rural infrastructure systems through establishing an Asset Management System (AMS).
- Improve the design standards of LGED for new assets and develop tools for build-back-better in reconstruction of assets to ensure infrastructure systems are resilient and gender responsive. (Joint Initiatives)
- Collaboration with other institutions on risk-informed and resilient infrastructure system and disseminate knowledge and share best practices and lessons learned.
- Strengthened Local Government Engineering Department leadership, policy and compliance capacity around risk-informed and gender responsive infrastructure approach with focus on asset management system.

Key Achievement
- Established Asset Management System in LGED and incorporated resilient elements in LGED Road Design Standard.
- Developed Professional Development Strategy, Capacity Building Plan, and Training Programme for LGED engineers and trainer pool for capacity building of other public institutions on asset management.
